Weekly Update 4: A bit of everything


Still comitted to weekly updates and still delivering. This Update marks the endpoint of our Production 1 Phase. Meaning that we expect to start a feature freeze in 1-2 weeks and only focus on polishing from that point onwards. So let's get into everything that changed for this week:

  • Reworked Tutorial: The old tutorial sucked, and we very well knew that. It was always meant as a placeholder until the could finish our actual planned tutorial, which we could finally put into this update. On top of that you now only have to do the tutorial once, but can also always replay it whenever you want.
  • UI Improvements: We removed some placeholder art here and there, while also improving the UI navigation to make it more intuitive. Additionally we added the option to change your control scheme and to build your own custom run. The later is currently a feature that's only planned to be used internally, but we are actively discussing about maybe putting a improved version of it into the final product.
  • Art improvements: We finalized the art for all kinds of bullets for the player, enemies and special attacks. We also added some different art for the hub room aswell as the first Story related decoration assets.
  • Levels: We added a few more levels into the mix, including a especially hard one that you can reach towards the end of your run. If you manage to complete it you are challanged to play agains a:
  • Boss: We added the first version of our final boss to the game, which you can combat after beating 5 levels in a run. This double boss features a variaty of attacks, aswell as a rage mode. As mentioned this is only the first version of it and we are already working on making it a even more menacing final boss.

As always there is probably more Stuff in this update that I forgot about, but this should cover the big stuff. That's it for now and look forward to next week, where we are finally implementing a progressions system.
